According to estimates, approximately 10 million of private sector workers will receive the fourteenth salary this year, especially in the sectors of commerce, tourism, logistics, construction, chemicals and services.
The fourteenth salary is not a universal right, but is only due to workers in whom it is Preview in their national collective labor agreement (CCNL). Sectors such as commerce, tourism, chemicals and construction are among the main beneficiaries, while metalworkers, bankers and domestic workers are excluded. It is important in this regard consult your CCNL to check if you are entitled to this additional monthly payment.
Fourteenth 2025: when it is paid and how it is calculated
This monthly payment is generally provided between the end of June and the first days of July. In fact, the exact date depends on the collective agreement applied to the individual employment relationship. Some contracts had set the deadline by the end of June, others by the first days of July. Theamount of the fourteenth month is usually equal to one month's salary, although it is important to note that, remaining subject to taxation, the net amount that appears on the pay slip may be lower than expected. The taxation of the fourteenth month varies based on the worker's overall income and the specific provisions set forth in the applied CCNL. The fourteenth for pensioners consists of an additional sum to the pension paid by INPS in July or December of each year, introduced by law 3 August 2007, n. 127 and amended by article 1, paragraph 187, 11 December 2016, n. 232, which extends the group of beneficiaries and has modified the amounts to be paid.
Fourteenth 2025: who deserves it
The fourteenth it is up to: to pensioners entitled to one or more pension payments paid by the General Compulsory Insurance and its replacement, exclusive and exempt forms, managed by public compulsory social security bodies; at least 64 years of age; with a total income of up to twice the minimum annual payment of the Employee Workers' Fund (from 2017). With reference to the safeguard clause, in the event that the total individual annual income is greater than 1,5 times or 2 times the minimum payment and less than this limit increased by the additional sum due, the amount of the fourteenth will be paid until the increased limit is reached.
Fourteenth 2025: how the payment is made
The payment of the fourteenth salary to pensioners occurs automatically, based on the income of previous years. For those who meet the required requirements by 31 July of the reference year, the benefit is paid on the July pension instalment. Instead, for those who meet the required requirements from 1 August (pensions managed in integrated systems) or from 1 July (pensions managed in Public Management systems) to 31 December, and for those entitled to a pension during 2024, falling within the age and income limits established by law, the fourteenth will, as usual, be automatically attributed with the December instalment. The fourteenth is recognised provisionally in the presence of the conditions prescribed by law and is subsequently verified on the basis of the final income as soon as it is available. In the case of failure disbursement of the fourteenth, the specific application for reconstitution can be submitted online. In this case, the fourteenth, if applicable, will be paid in the months immediately following the month of the application. In the case of pensions that are due for a limited number of months, such as, for example, pensions with a start date other than January 1st, i.e. reaching the age of sixty-four during the year, the amount due will be calculated in proportion to the months of validity of the treatment.
