Garlasco Murder, News from the Investigations: The Shocking Confession of a Super-Witness
A new testimony has brought the spotlight back on one of the most enigmatic cases in Italian judicial history, directing the attention of investigators towards a narrow canal, now almost completely dry, located next to the railway tracks in Tromello, a few kilometres from Garlasco. This is not a random location: the watercourse is located near a old house of court that once it belonged to the grandmother of the Cappa twins, cousins of the victim Clear Poggi.
The super-witness would have indicated a possible murder weapon poker from the fireplace. A similar object would be among those seized in 2007 at the home of Alberto Stasi, Chiara's then boyfriend and the only defendant in the trial. "From Poggi's house only a hammer is missing, the fireplace poker never disappeared from the villa on Via Pascoli in Garlasco”, cYes, Gian Luigi Tizzoni, the lawyer who is assisting the Poggi family in the trial for Chiara's murder, clarifies to Adnkronos.
According to the rumours that have emerged in Reservoir Dogs, the witness would have recognized in Stephanie Cappa — at the time a law student and cousin of the victim — the person who allegedly threw the gun into the canal, near the family home where her older brother Cesare lived. It is important to point out that Stefania Cappa is not under investigation nor has it ever been.
Garlasco Crime, News from the Investigations: Tromello Canal Drained
The emptying of the site began around 12:30. channels that crosses the center of Tromello. According to what a municipal technician told ANSA, the intervention was carried out with the help of bulkheads to isolate the affected section, thus allowing the pumps to drain the riverbed. The pumps were positioned on the opposite side to the one that attracted the attention of the investigators during the morning.
The canal involved, the Cavo Bozzani, it would have already been dredged in the past. A local shopkeeper, who owns a nearby bar, told ANSA that she remembered a previous intervention in which water had been removed, although, in her opinion, it had mainly involved the removal of vegetation along the banks.
Municipal sources have confirmed that the last real activity maintenance dates back to the period 2017-2018, that is, a decade after the crime. For this very reason, the possibility of finding useful elements would be considered rather low.
The stretch of the canal which is the object of the investigation extends for about 1,2 kilometers, but the searches will focus on a much more limited segment: 300 meters located inside the town, precisely at the point where the super-witness, interviewed by the program Reservoir Dogs, claimed to have seen the weapon that would have killed Chiara Poggi being thrown away. video of the interview was seized by the Carabinieri of the investigative unit of Milan. The recording will be broadcast in full on May 20.
