The world of music is at the centre of a profound reflection launched by Gino Cecchettin, president of the Foundation named after his daughter Giulia, tragically killed in November 2023 by Filippo Turetta. With an open letter addressed to artists and record companies, Cecchettin proposes a change in the way the lyrics and messages of songs are treated, calling for greater commitment and greater responsibility.
Gino Cecchettin, the request to musicians and record companies on the lyrics of the songs
On the occasion of the 2025 edition of the Aperyshow Charity Event, which will be held from 24 April to 1 May in the Campo Fiera area of Arsego, the festival is teaming up with the Giulia Cecchettin Foundation to launch a strong and shared appeal to the music scene: to promote a more respectful, aware and inclusive artistic language, free from stereotypes and harmful narratives.
The appeal is signed by Gino Cecchettin, Giulia's father and president of the Foundation created to transform the pain of her tragic death into a concrete commitment against gender violence. With an open letter addressed to the artists who will perform on the festival stage, Cecchettin invites them to reflect on responsibility which today involves to go up on stage.
"The words you choose, the messages you transmit reach thousands of young people, and leave traces. I invite you to consider leaving aside those contents that - consciously or not - can fuel a culture of oppression."

In addition to the invitation launched, the Foundation has developed two handbooks: one intended for singers and the other for record producers, containing suggestionsi to promote respectful language, gender equality and inclusion in both musical productions and professional contexts.
“Encourages the diversity and inclusion. Create a music scene that values diverse voices and counters homogeneous and oppressive narratives,” it is stated in the document.
Secondo Gino Cecchettin, nowadays it seems that violent words are the ones that attract the most. Regarding the lyrics of artists like Vasco Rossi or Riccardo Cocciante, who today would be considered “unpublishable”, Cecchettin agreed on the idea of asking these artists to expose themselves to explain to young people the importance of a cultural revolution that starts with words. However, he also pointed out that many of the artists who in the past had written lyrics of this kind have now taken a different path, adding that every song must always be contextualized in its time.
