Rome, April 30 (askanews) – After its presentation at the Rome Film Fest in the Alice nella città section and its passage to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and the Barcelona Film Festival, “L'origine del mondo”, the feature film debut of Rossella Inglese, will be released in theaters as an event on May 5, 6 and 7.
The protagonist is 19-year-old Eva, linked to 45-year-old Bruno (Fabrizio Rongione) by a tragic fate: the girl inadvertently causes an accident in which the man's wife dies.
By getting closer to him, hiding the truth from him, she will be able to heal his wounds, as he will, until they will be forced to deal with what happened and with the suffering, but for them it will be a new beginning.
The protagonist is played by the young Giorgia Faraoni: “As soon as I read the script, I judged Eva a lot. I didn't understand her completely, I didn't understand all those choices, wrong for sure, but I wanted to give her my own purity and my own practical explanation. So I worked a lot on the psychological study of the protagonist and then she left me with a lot, much more than I thought because, in fact, even though life puts you in front of many challenges, the important thing, and that's what Eva taught me, is to react. So in one way or another, right or wrong, the important thing is to move, do things, create chaos to bring everything back into a new order. And so she certainly taught me the strength to react”.
The film is an emotional journey in two solitudes, it talks about suffering, guilt and forgiveness and also deals with the theme of revenge porn. But there is a final message of hope: "Her choice is not to run away anymore, to grow up, to become a woman, to take her responsibilities and therefore there is hope, there is a light at the end".
Giorgia Faraoni had already played Eva in the short film of the same name by the same director, presented at the Critics' Week at the Venice Film Festival. The Venetian actress began acting five years ago as a self-taught and this character, she said, a bit like acting, was therapeutic for her. "Right away I looked for a common ground with her and I found it precisely in the pain, also because when I act I like to put something of myself, because fundamentally I act for myself, to heal my wounds, to know myself, to improve myself and therefore having found such a strong common ground with her in the pain also helped me for my wounds, my scars. So she taught me a lot, she gave me a lot of strength".
And on revenge porn, which is where the film starts: “Even if it is only told at the beginning, then the whole core was the relationship between us, it is important not to forget where it all started and how much suffering can be caused perhaps by an unconscious act because you really feel like so many people who end up taking their own lives”.
