Rome, June 17 – (Adnkronos) – It is wonderful to participate in this initiative. Attending this contest, seeing girls play and compete from different parts of Italy is the true essence. It is a joy to be here”. These are the words of Sara Gama, former captain of Juventus, player of the Italian national team, vice president of AIC – Italian Footballers’ Association and Federal Councilor of FIGC, participating today at the Nando Martellini stadium, at the Baths of Caracalla, in the final of the women’s football tournament 'Girls just wanna have goals', as part of the 'Week for Good', the week promoted by Axa Italia dedicated to sustainability.
The tournament, which involved 150 girls, was created by the insurance group to celebrate the value of sport as a tool for social inclusion and female empowerment, alongside Sport Senza Frontiere and Roma Capitale. Gama, ambassador of the event, has lived a life in sport and with an eye on the future of women's football, warns: "We still have a lot to do to develop the female side of football".
