Milan, June 23 (Adnkronos Salute) – "The 'Da Quore e Cuore in un gesto' campaign was born from listening deeply to patients with hypercholesterolemia who have already suffered an acute event through the fundamental collaboration with the patient foundation. In Italy, in fact, cardiovascular deaths still represent the leading cause of death: 220 thousand deaths per year, which corresponds to 25 deaths every hour".
This was stated by Chiara Gnocchi, Communication & Advocacy Head of Novartis Italia, during the inauguration of the Novartis 'Quore imperfetto' installation in Milan, as part of the 'Da Quore a Cuore in un gesto' campaign. During the day, Novartis also presented new data from an Iqvia Italia study on 'Lost in Treatment' patients.
"Novartis – says Gnocchi – has been committed for over 40 years to the development of effective therapeutic options to try to reduce cardiovascular risk and consequently related deaths, so that no heart stops beating too soon. However, we have realized that this is not enough: it is not just a question of science or research, but it is a cultural, psychological and emotional question. The campaign wants to highlight a hidden and insidious problem: in fact, 1 in 3 patients after an acute event is 'lost', lost, through their therapeutic and follow-up path. It is important to reactivate the patient with hypercholesterolemia following an acute event to take charge of their treatment path, through awareness, knowledge of their cardiovascular risk, but above all through dialogue with their doctor". For this reason, "we suggest that all patients return to their specialist doctor to engage in an adequate dialogue and choose together with him the treatment path that best suits their needs".
