In Oviedo, Spain, a story of segregation that lasted more than three years has finally found a turning point. Their condition was a hidden nightmare, until, recently, the discovery came that shocked the entire community.

Horror in Spain, three children discovered locked in their homes for at least three years

Two eight-year-old twins and their ten-year-old brother have been locked up at home for over three years, deprived of any contact with the outside world. Their parents, a German citizen couple, and a German-American woman, they lived isolated from society, rejecting any kind of interaction with the world.

The situation would have emerged thanks to the Report from a neighbor, who alerted the police. When the officers intervened, they found the children in conditions of total neglect: not in school, they lived in a deplorable environment, “among the waste“, and showed obvious signs of abuse. Local police described the home as a “domestic hell.”

The dramatic discovery in Spain and the turning point

The police discovered that the house where only one person lived, a man, as it appeared in the civil registry, also hosted other people. In fact, among the residents there were also minors, who did not attend school. The neighbors had reported that no one had ever left the house, which had been rented in October 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Commissioner Francisco Javier Lozano García reportedly stressed that the incident has caused great dismay and that investigations will have to clarify what drove the family to isolate themselves for so long and move to Spain. According to local media, the three children were wearing diapers and surgical masks. The father, in fact, reportedly asked the police to wear a mask before the search.

when the children were released, they would have shown amazement at the external environment, as if they had never been outside. After being entrusted to medical care, they were transferred to a child protection center.

The parents were arrested and now a new phase opens for the children, who can finally hope for a better future.
