Milan, November 8 (Adnkronos) – The challenges of Artificial Intelligence, what it means to grow as students and professionals today in light of this "new era," and what role culture and the development of critical thinking will play with the advent of new technologies. These are some of the topics that will be addressed during the inauguration of the 2025-26 academic year of the Jump Project.
We read it in a note.
The event will take place in Rome at the Campus Bio-Medico University and will bring together over 400 students in conversation with Maria Chiara Carrozza, Professor of Industrial Bioengineering at the University of Milan-Bicocca, Andrea Maccarini, Professor of Sociology of Cultural and Communication Processes at the University of Padua, Simone Ungaro, Co-General Manager Strategy & Innovation, Leonardo, introduced by Professor Rocco Papalia, Rector of the Campus Bio-Medico University, and Giuseppe Ghini, President of the Rui Foundation.
The meeting marks the start of the new academic year of Jump—Job University Matching Project—a three-year interdisciplinary program offered across all of the Rui Foundation's colleges of excellence. The program aims to integrate academic knowledge with the content and dynamics of the world of work, develop transversal, cognitive, and managerial skills, and contribute to the student's overall education.
Giuseppe Ghini, President of the Rui Foundation, stated: "Artificial Intelligence heralds a new technological revolution in the near future. And, as always happens in these cases, society is polarized into two factions: the apocalyptic and the enthusiastic. Both are failing to achieve the true goal, which is to prepare for the new, to face it with a critical spirit that, once again drawing on the riches of the humanistic tradition and Christian realism, is nevertheless capable of authentically renewing itself."
Professor Rocco Papalia, Rector of UCBM, stated: “The Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome invests in increasingly experiential, innovative, and international teaching, aimed at preparing people capable of understanding the complexity of the present and serving society. New technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, are valuable tools only when guided by a truly human and responsible vision. This is the vision of the university we want to build, where knowledge becomes service and innovation grows through relationships with others, developing the soft skills that make a difference in work and life.”
Andrea Rossi, CEO and General Manager of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, continued: "We are delighted to organize and host this event together with the RUI Foundation. Many of our students have chosen to live in the RUI University Residences, where they find a stimulating environment consistent with our University's educational program, thanks in part to the scholarships our University awards annually in conjunction with the RUI Foundation. Interdisciplinarity, internationalization, the transversality of knowledge, and the development of soft skills are crucial levers for guiding young people into the world of work. The year-long program offered by JUMP reinforces this vision, as it promotes comprehensive training that considers future professionals as well as the whole person."
Maria Chiara Carrozza, Professor of Industrial Bioengineering at the University of Milan-Bicocca, stated: "Artificial Intelligence has evolved from an object of study to a tool for research and accelerating research. This is why it's important to invest in projects like JUMP, which focus on students' personalities and transversal skills, to enable them to approach the world of work with awareness and the ability to make choices. We must teach students how to approach career choices and how to position themselves at the intersection of the virtual and real worlds, so that they understand that it is experimentation in physical reality that gives meaning to models, which have no value in themselves but rather as a means to accelerate scientific inquiry."
Andrea Maccarini, Professor of Sociology of Cultural and Communicative Processes at the University of Padua, stated: "Artificial Intelligence presents a challenge to the entire relational and emotional infrastructure upon which our societies are based, transforming fundamental human behaviors and capabilities, in which these new technologies will play an increasingly crucial role. Thanks to ongoing training and critical engagement, we will be able to address these challenges, identifying these innovations as enabling and enriching tools, potentially also in the realm of relationships, at the service of humanity and full human dignity."
Simone Ungaro, Co-General Manager Strategy & Innovation at Leonardo, stated: "In an increasingly complex geopolitical context, marked by hybrid threats and cyber conflicts, security must evolve beyond traditional defense. Leonardo is therefore investing in Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, High Performance Computing, and quantum technologies to strengthen its digital transformation and ensure global security, innovation, and Italian and European technological sovereignty."
Jump is open to students from all disciplines and is developed with the input of university professors, professionals, and managers who curate the teaching modules. Content is structured around three pillars: Soft Skills, to enhance skills in relationships, communication, and organization through practical cases, group work, and guided discussions. Interdisciplinary courses offer a path of open and in-depth reflection on ethics, anthropology, and major current issues in politics and economics. Thematic courses, particularly in the fields of law, economics, and medicine, take a career-oriented approach through case studies, led by industry professionals and in collaboration with companies.
In addition to the three-year program, the Jump+ program is available for master's degree students: career guidance activities that help students develop their professional identity through collaboration with consulting firms, personnel selection agencies, and international companies.
Jump+ is an ideal bridge to the world of work and, through collaborations with international business schools such as IESE and AESE, introduces students to the dynamics of entrepreneurship and management, placing them in highly formative and international contexts. In its nearly 20 years of existence, JUMP has trained over 450 students each year, with more than 900 hours of training provided annually and over 130 instructors from the academic, managerial, and business worlds. The Jump project includes students residing at the RUI Foundation's University Colleges of Merit and non-resident university students, motivated to grow their skills and discover their talents through a personalized training program.
