Iran, relief efforts after Israel's attack in a Tehran neighborhood

Tehran, June 13 (askanews) – In the images, rescuers from the Iranian Red Crescent arrive at the site of one of the Israeli attacks in the Sa'adat Abas neighborhood of Tehran, searching for victims. Calls for restraint have come from around the world and from the United Nations after the Israeli raids that hit about a hundred targets, including nuclear and military sites, and killed high-level figures, nuclear scientists and the chief of staff of the armed forces.

But according to several local media, civilian targets were also hit.

Iran's Foreign Ministry said the Israeli attack on its territory was "a declaration of war" and called on the United Nations Security Council to respond. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump on the escalation in the Middle East later today, his office said.
