Iran, Meloni: Potentially huge risks from destabilization of region

Rome, 23 June (askanews) – The situation between Israel and Iran “has worsened following the US attack on three Iranian nuclear sites, the potential enormous risks deriving from a further destabilisation of an already very tried region are not lost on us”.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said this in her communications to the Chamber in view of the European Council.

At this stage, Meloni continued, “dialogue between government and parliament, between government and opposition” is important and “I will do my best to broaden this dialogue”.

“We consider the hypothesis that Iran acquires nuclear weapons to be very dangerous; an Iran as a nuclear power would not only represent a vital danger for Israel, but would lead to a rush to acquire nuclear weapons by other actors in the area, triggering a domino effect that would be very dangerous for us too,” added Meloni.
