A manual entitled “maintaining dignity until the end” would provide detailed instructions for taking one's own life, indicating the use of firearms or grenades.

“The 'soldier of the Great Russia' is instructed to shoot himself in the temple, under the chin or in the forehead in desperate moments,” states the Gur, specifying that the indications also include “keep calm and pull the trigger confidently”. In case no weapons or ammunition are available, soldiers are advised to use a grenade.

Ukrainian intelligence calls this policy further evidence of the “moral degradation of the Russian army”. Moscow: 35 Ukrainian drones shot down
