Ultima Generazione with scissors in front of the Senate: Meloni cuts VAT?

Rome, June 13 (askanews) – Seven activists from Ultima Generazione, adhering to the “Il Giusto Prezzo” campaign, held a flash mob protest in front of the Senate asking the government to cut VAT on essential food products.

After having been in front of the Chamber of Deputies and the Ministry of Agriculture this week to protest against the security decree – this time the activists went to the Senate.

They were then moved by the police to Via del Salvatore where they unfurled a banner with the words “Let's cut VAT” and shortly after they were taken to the police station.

Alina, 30 years old, said: “This morning I came in front of Palazzo Madama because I only ask for a dignified life and a better future for me and my three children. Instead we were surrounded by the police, we were charged as if we were criminals, when in reality we only came to ask for a cut in VAT on essential food products because it is not possible to continue like this. Food is not a luxury, luxury goods must be taxed. We are turning to the Meloni government, and if they do not give substance to our request we are ready to boycott supermarkets starting in October”.
