Today marks a decisive moment in history, a step forward with no return, in which we find ourselves united. Minister Alessandra Locatelli opened the G7 dedicated to inclusion and disability, welcoming the various delegations from the stage set up in Piazza San Francesco, in Assisi. She highlighted the participation of the highest institutions of the world's economic powers, ministers and families, as well as associations present in the area, highlighting the desire to improve the lives of all people, not only those with disabilities.
This G7 – the minister said – is unique because, in addition to addressing inclusion and disability, it puts people at the center. It is essential that as governments we focus on issues such as transportation, environment, culture and tourism, but without ever forgetting that people must be our priority. Only in this way can we truly act and strengthen ourselves as a community. If we commit ourselves daily, we can make a difference for everyone”.
A new challenge in Assisi
“We are not interested in simple solutions,” Locatelli added, “because achieving significant results requires dedication, passion, and courage. Here in Assisi we are undertaking a new challenge.” He then concluded by addressing the ministers, emphasizing the presence of people with disabilities, families, and associations: “Only by working together can we make a difference and improve things.”
