Mauro Corona: an unexpected guest
Today, Sunday 27 April, the program Verissimo welcomed a special guest: Mauro Corona. The writer, known for his regular presence on Bianca Berlinguer's program, chose Canale 5 to tell his life story in a completely new way. The meeting was characterized by intense stories and jokes typical of his spirit, but there were also moments of tension and worry.
An unexpected accident
During the broadcast, the audience and the host Silvia Toffanin could not help but notice a deep wound on Corona's face. The host, visibly worried, asked for explanations. Mauro revealed that he had an accident the day before the recording, in which a chainsaw went out of control, causing flying splinters. Despite the pain, Corona decided not to clean himself, believing that the wound would add a touch of drama to his story.
Reflections on life and depression
During the interview, Mauro shared intimate details of his life, including his relationship with wine and his fear of death. He spoke about the severe depression that struck him five years ago, an experience that forced him to lock himself in his house for a year. With the help of therapy and medicine, he was able to overcome that dark period, radically changing his way of looking at life. He confessed that he had always mocked those who suffered from depression, but now he deeply understands the suffering of others.
Wine: a life companion
Corona spoke about his relationship with wine, which he prefers not to call alcohol. For him, wine has always been a way to face life with joy, even if it has led to problematic situations, such as complaints for drunkenness. Recently, he decided to stop drinking, recognizing that on some occasions he has offended those closest to him. This awareness has pushed him to undertake a course of treatment with a psychologist, after having his license revoked for being drunk.
A documentary coming soon
In addition to these revelations, Mauro announced the release of a documentary entitled “My life as long as it happens”, in which he tells his existence with an open heart. The film retraces significant moments of his life, from the violence he suffered in his youth to his mother's senile dementia, up to the Vajont disaster. Through this project, Corona hopes to make his story and his personal battles better known.
