Rome, June 23 (Adnkronos Salute) – Registration for Medicine opens today, Monday, June 23, 2025. This year, there will be no entrance test, but the open semester will debut. The reform desired by the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, provides for free registration. Registration will be open until July 25 on the Universitaly website.

The Ministry of University and Research has asked universities to further increase the available places for another 3.000 students in exchange for increased funding of 50 million euros, of which 30 million in the Ordinary Financing Fund and 20 million outside the FFO.

The reform provides for the abolition of entrance tests, the passing of the limited number and the establishment of an open semester with free access with the simultaneous enrollment in another similar course of study. Registration must be done through the online platform www.universitaly.it starting from today until July 25. At the time of registration, the location where the open semester will be attended must be indicated, together with the similar course chosen. Each student must also indicate at least 9 other alternative locations (for a total of 10 choices) and at least 10 preferred locations for the purpose of a possible continuation in the similar course in the second semester.

The first semester training activities will begin on September 2026st and will end by November. Universities, in exercising their autonomy, will regulate the teaching methodology for the provision of training activities. From 2027-3, universities will also have to proceed with the adaptation of the study plans of related courses. The open semester can be repeated up to XNUMX times, even non-consecutively.

There are three courses in the open semester: Chemistry and biochemical propaedeutics, Physics and Biology. Each subject will allow you to have 6 training credits (CFU) for a total of 18. If you pass all 3 exams, the credits will have full recognition in the event of enrollment in the related course. At the end of the open semester, each student will have to take the profit exams on the 3 courses. The tests will be the same at a national level and will take place simultaneously, on the same day. Students will have 2 exam sessions: the first will take place on November 20; the second on December 10. Each exam consists of the administration of 31 questions for each of the 3 subjects of the open semester: 15 multiple choice with 5 answer options - of which only one is correct - and 16 fill-in-the-blank questions. You will have 45 minutes for each test.

The scores obtained in the individual exams will be valid for the formation of the national ranking. The grade will be expressed in thirtieths with the possibility of honors. The minimum score to be able to access the national ranking must not be less than 18/30 in each individual test. In essence, students must be promoted in each exam. 1 point is awarded for each correct answer, 0 for each omitted answer, -0,25 for each incorrect answer. For all 3 tests the maximum overall score is 93 points. Students not admitted to the second semester, who have obtained a grade of not less than 18/30 in each exam, can continue in the chosen similar course with recognition of all the CFU obtained.

Enrollment in the first semester of the related course is free and not subject to mandatory attendance as may be required by university regulations. Related courses are identified among those of the degree classes in Biotechnology (L-2), Biological Sciences (L-13), single-cycle master's degree in Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy (LM-13), Zootechnical Sciences and Animal Production Technologies (L-38), as well as some courses among those of the health professions (chosen on the basis of objective criteria and updated annually by the Mur).
