The first investigations, coordinated by the Messina Public Prosecutor's Office, focus on the hypothesis of a voluntary gesture, although the possibility of a tragic domestic accident cannot be completely ruled out. The victim, a newborn baby who – according to local sources – was called Elisa, was the firstborn of the couple. The mother is a housewife, while the father, 45 years old, works in a company specializing in automatic gates.

At the scene of the tragedy, the Scientific Police have carried out detailed investigations. At the same time, investigators are collecting testimonies from family members and neighbors to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the events.
