The Mystery of Nicotine
The investigations and the testimonies
Chiara's father, Giuseppe Poggi, is a smoker, but at the time he was on vacation with his wife. The expert report showed that the nicotine was concentrated in the ends of the hair and near the scalp, suggesting close contact with smoke. Furthermore, an ashtray found at the crime scene, although used, did not have cigarette butts, further fueling doubts. Chiara's mother stated that her daughter would never have left a dirty ashtray in the kitchen, insinuating that something was wrong.
The new charges and the future of the investigation
With the order to collect Andrea Sempio's DNA, the investigating judge of Pavia also requested a comparison with other biological traces found in the villa. However, some crucial elements, such as the keyboard of the computer used by Sempio and Chiara's pajamas, have been lost. In the meantime, key witnesses continue to be heard, and a super witness recently revealed that he had important information, but had feared for his safety in the past. The situation is further complicated, since Sempio, assisted by his lawyer, claims to be innocent and is trying to resume his working life, despite the weight of the case continuing to weigh on him.
