Giulia Gambazzi 5-month-old baby is doing better abused by his father to get disability benefits. The neonate, hospitalized in Padova, now breathing without oxygen and is in semi-intensive care.
The health conditions of the newborn
Il neonate suffered serious injuries to the mouth, tongue and throat, which have compromised his breathing and swallowing abilities. For this reason he still needs a nasogastric tube for feeding. Due to the injuries, some vital organs such as the heart and kidneys suffered damage, worsened by lack of adequate nutrition and hydration since July.
The doctors are confident in the recovery of the child, who is alert and curious and carefully observes the environment around him. His recovery path will be long and, after discharge, he will be followed by the Center for the Diagnostics of Abused Children.
The father's tortures
The child's father is a twenty-two year old carousel operator living in Camisano Vicentino, caught red-handed by the hospital cameras and arrested by the police. It appears that his intention was to cause irreversible damage to his son in order to obtain a disability allowance.
The mother of the little boy, a twenty-year-old girl, is considered a stranger to the facts, but she finds herself in a complicated situation since she also has another son of 3 and a half years.
