Adnkronos Rome, June 13 (Adnkronos) – "What is happening in Pisa risks undermining the credibility, transparency and the very democratic stability of the Democratic Party in our city. It is my duty to publicly denounce a situation that, going beyond all limits, requires immediate intervention by the national secretariat and the regional secretary". Thus Oreste Sabatino, provincial secretary of the Pd of Pisa, intervenes on the management of the congress of the Municipal Union of the capital, highlighting a series of serious irregularities that are compromising the correctness of the congress process.
"Less than 24 hours before the start of the club congresses - says Sabatino - the Congress Commission has decided to adopt a register of members that differs from the one certified by the competent bodies, namely the Provincial Guarantee Commission and the Membership Office, at the end of May. A choice made without any statutory basis, which has altered the fundamental assumption of the certainty of the electoral base and, consequently, the very calculation of the delegates to be elected".
"The situation further degenerated during the congress of the San Marco-San Giusto club, where - despite a formal request for suspension signed by the provincial secretary himself and accepted by the club secretary - it was deliberately decided to proceed with voting and scrutiny, without legal basis, without legitimacy". Added to this, Sabatino reports, "a worrying and tense internal climate: there are also some intimidations, aggressive behavior suffered by some members. Faced with this drift - Sabatino concludes - I asked for an act of responsibility from the regional secretary Emiliano Fossi and the secretary Elly Schlein. An immediate suspension of the congress process is needed, pending the appropriate investigations by the guarantee bodies. Not only the regularity of a congress is at stake, but the trust of thousands of members and supporters who believe in a PD founded on legality, respect and authentic participation, as well as our image in front of the citizens and voters of Pisa".
