Rome, May 14 (askanews) - "Offshore wind represents a strategic asset class to accelerate the energy transition and strengthen Italy's energy independence. The project we are developing along the Calabrian coast will produce 1.300 gigawatt hours of energy per year, a quantity comparable to that of a small nuclear reactor, while generating employment and significant benefits for the territory".
Giovanni Pinelli, Senior Director Energy of Green Arrow Capital, stated this during his speech at Largo Chigi, the format broadcast on Urania Tv. “From a regulatory point of view,” he added, “the incentive system provided by the FER 2 tariff represents an important driver of development: 185 euros per MWh is a level of remuneration capable of attracting investments. However, the expected threshold of 3,8 GW is largely insufficient compared to the real need. Suffice it to say that Terna has already received connection requests for over 3.600 turbines, equal to a total power of 65 GW.” Green Arrow Capital plans to invest 1,5 billion euros of private capital for the construction of the plant, with an estimated economic impact of 4,5 billion euros of shared value for the area involved. "The ports involved in the logistics and industrial chain for the assembly of turbines - concluded Pinelli - can become real production hubs for the entire Mediterranean. This is a supply chain that will be able to count on sea transport, creating qualified employment and contributing in a concrete way to the growth of the Italian GDP".
