Purcaro: Road safety education for young people for a safer future

Milan, 18 March (askanews) – In the phase of transformation that the automotive sector is going through, road education takes on an even more central role for safety and responsible mobility. Dekra is convinced of this and, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of #ForumAutoMotive, the event dedicated to current issues for the sector, it illustrated the Safe Secure Sustainable educational project that will start on 25 March at the Volta High School in Lodi with the aim of providing students with skills and tools to address the issues of safety, innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector.

“Dekra for 100 years, this year is our birthday, we are celebrating our 100 years, it exists precisely to improve road safety, through investments in new technology, investments in new skills. Today there is the frontier of cyber security linked to software and artificial intelligence. So ours is a continuous search for new skills and technologies to improve safety”, said Toni Purcaro, Executive Vice President Dekra Group and President of Dekra Italia.

Central to reducing accidents are driver assistance systems or Adas. "These are systems that can reduce accidents by 50% and therefore also the number of deaths on the roads, but it is essential for the driver to know how these systems work. It could be interesting to include them also throughout the entire path that is taken in driving schools to obtain a license," explained Purcaro.

For the safety of the little ones, Dekra has created the Child Caps initiative, which this year celebrates 20 years of activity: the protagonists are the red caps with grey reflectors, created to ensure better visibility of children on the road.
