Four years after releasing their debut album, Indus released "Negra", their second album, on ZZK Records on June 21st. A record that explores the essence of the night through dance, seduction and mystery, paying homage to Colombian culture and the concept of land. With these ten songs, Barranquilla producer Óscar Alford, together with Andres Mercado and a select group of collaborators, builds a bridge between the sounds and stories of the Pacific and the Caribbean, bringing together different territories like a river that crosses and connects them.

On June 30th Indus will perform at the famous Fusion Fest in Berlin: while waiting to hear them live, we interviewed Óscar, and this is what he told us.

Hi Óscar, and welcome tonews.it

When did you decide to become a producer?
About 10 years ago, I had a band and wanted to learn how to record. Then I liked it so much that I decided to dedicate myself only to this.

When did you realize that this was your path?
It was a simple feeling… At some point, I felt lucky to be able to do this for a living.

Who are your favorite artists?
The ones who smile.

And your favorite clubs and festivals?
I don't know much about clubs… But my favorite festival is Petronio Álvarez in Colombia.

How would you describe your music?
Indus explores Colombian Afro-Latin music with electronic elements.

What is the most pleasant moment you remember in your career as a producer?
It's hard to say… there were a lot of creative moments in the studio, but playing live is just as enjoyable. Nuits Sonores in Lyon was really fantastic.

And the most absurd or embarrassing one?
Falling down the stairs a Berlin and then miss the train… Or at least, this is the most recent one.

how do you spend your free time?
With my dogs.

How do you relate to social networks?
I like to think of them as a community with common interests, but I try not to spend too much time on social media.

what are your future projects?
At the moment, finishing the tour in Europe and Canada, and then taking a break to explore new sounds and ideas without a specific goal.
