Rome, 28 Nov. – (Adnkronos) – “The mapping of risk areas is a fundamental step to reduce the impact and environmental risks of natural or anthropogenic origin is fundamental because it allows us to predict in advance where events that impact the population and the socio-economic fabric in general may occur”. This was stated by Alberto Montanari, Professor of Hydraulic Constructions and Hydrology, Dicam Department, University of Bologna, who spoke in Bologna at the Dissemination Workshop of the Return project (Multi-Risk Science for Resilient Communities under a Changing Climate), funded by the Pnrr.

"Having knowledge of where these events can occur is essential to be able to warn citizens, therefore to send warning messages of these events, together with appropriate training of citizens on the prevention of these risks, are essential to be able to mitigate the consequences that they often cause. I emphasize that this is precisely a primary objective of the Return Foundation, that is, to provide technical indications that allow us to address the consequences of natural events and therefore mitigate them", concluded Montanari.
