Riace case, conviction for Mimmo Lucano confirmed by the Court of Cassation
The sentence of the former Mayor of Riace Mimmo Lucano becomes definitive to 18 months of imprisonment, with a suspended sentence, for a false statement relating to one of the 57 resolutions that had been charged to him by the prosecution following an investigation into the management of the reception of migrants in Riace. The Court of Cassation therefore rejected the appeals of his defense lawyers, confirming the crime of forgery.

The Supreme Court also declared the appeal of the general power of attorney of Reggio Calabria for the acquittal of Mimmo Lucano and the other defendants for crimes of fraud to the detriment of the State. Also the appeal for the acquittal of other frauds and forgeries contested only to Lucano they were rejected. Let us remember that in the second degree trial the main charges brought against Mimmo Lucano were dropped, only the charge of forgery remained, the conviction of which was confirmed today.
