Fraud using Minister Crosetto's name: investigation opened
The Milan prosecutor's office is investigating a maxi fraud telephone. Several entrepreneurs were in fact contacted on behalf of the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, or his staff, with requests for large sums of money. One entrepreneur allegedly paid 1 million euros. The investigation was entrusted to the Carabinieri and coordinated by the prosecutor Giovanni Tarzia and the prosecutor Marcello Viola.
Minister Crosetto: “No one should fall into the trap”
The Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto he wanted to comment on social media on what happened, inviting everyone to be careful and not to fall into the trap: “Serious scam in my name, no one should fall into the trap. I use this medium to publicize a serious scam in progress. An absurd story that begins on Tuesday with a call from a friend, a big businessman, who asks me why my secretary called his to get his cell phone. I tell him that it was absurd, since I have it, it was impossible. I check to be sure and they confirm that no one has tried. I file the matter away. After an hour they tell me that there is a well-known businessman, whom I do not know, who would like to contact me. I authorize them to give him my cell phone. He calls me and tells me that I called him and then a General and that he made a very large transfer to an account that the General had given him.” At this point Crosetto notified the Carabinieri and, furthermore, in the following days, the minister was contacted by other entrepreneurs who received calls in his name.
