Milan, 10 Feb. (Adnkronos) – At least two accounts, one leading to Holland and the other running as far as Hong Kong, were apparently used by the group of scammers who – using the name of the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto – tried to carry out million-dollar scams against famous entrepreneurs under the pretext of freeing journalists or soldiers in the Middle East.
Massimo Moratti, the only victim who reported having fallen into the well-conceived trap, is said to have made two transfers to an account in Holland, money that the gang then transferred to Hong Kong where the exchange of information on current accounts is more complicated than in Europe, so much so that investigators believe the possibility of recovering the money transferred (almost one million euros) is rather low.
Pending further reports, the Milan prosecutor's office is investigating for criminal association aimed at aggravated fraud and impersonation. This latter crime is the focus of Minister Crosetto's complaint, which is expected shortly.
