Drama in Sestri Ponente: Deadly fire destroys a building
Shortly after 4 am, a devastating fire engulfed an apartment in Sestri Ponente, causing the death of a 29-year-old man.
The flames, which spread rapidly, made any timely rescue attempts impossible. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the investigators do not exclude any hypothesis, including that the victim may have voluntarily caused the fire, perhaps with the intent of take one's own life.
The following people intervened at the scene of the accident: firefighters, with Multedo's team and three teams from the headquarters, along with the officer on duty. After hours of work, the flames were put out and the building was evacuated to allow for the necessary structural and safety checks.

Among the people involved in the fire, the young man's mother, who lived with him in the apartment, was also hospitalized. The woman was rushed to the San Martino hospital in Genoa with a red code, where doctors are providing her with first aid, also using the hyperbaric chamber to treat the serious consequences of exposure to smoke.
Three other people were rescued for minor poisoning and taken to the emergency room of Villa Scassi with a yellow code, thanks to the timely intervention of the 118 doctors.
During the rescue operations, all other residents of the building were safely evacuated from their homes. Further checks are currently being carried out to assess the structural conditions of the building and determine any damage caused by the fire.
