Monreale, 28 Apr. (Adnkronos) – The brawl that ended in the shooting that cost the lives of three young boys would have broken out over a trivial reprimand due to the high speed of the scooter in the center of Monreale (Palermo). This is what emerges from the reconstruction made by the investigators after an intense day of intense investigations that during the night led to the arrest of a 19-year-old from Zen in Palermo.
The boy, originally from the Zen neighborhood, is suspected of having killed three young people from Monreale with gunshots: Salvatore Turdo, 23, and the two 26-year-olds Andrea Miceli and Massimo Pirozzo. Two other young people were injured. The arrest warrant for the suspect was issued late Sunday evening. The charges are massacre, illegal possession and illegal possession of a firearm.
According to reports, Salvatore Calvaruso showed up at the police station on Sunday morning saying his scooter had been stolen. According to the Palermo prosecutor's office investigating the triple homicide, this was a move to divert the investigation. The young man was then identified thanks to witnesses and video surveillance cameras. During the night, the prosecutor signed the arrest warrant, which will now be examined by the investigating judge of Palermo for validation of the measure. The 19-year-old is now detained in the Pagliarelli prison in Palermo.
It seems that the young man who was arrested was speeding along with other boys not far from the tables of the bar in via D'Acquisto, a stone's throw from the Duomo, with hundreds of people present. At a certain point two cousins, Salvatore Turdo and Andrea Miceli, allegedly scolded the boy driving one of the scooters: "Go slowly, it's full of people here". Only a few moments later, one or maybe two guns were pulled out. And chaos ensued. At least 18 to 20 gunshots were fired.
One of the two wounded in the shooting was sitting with his girlfriend at the bar and is not involved in the fight. He is Nicolò Cangemi, 33 years old. When he saw the young man shooting, he tried to disarm him but failed and was wounded in the leg. The other wounded man is miraculously safe. A sixteen-year-old was wounded in the back of the head but only grazed. He is out of danger.
