Smoke and flames rise from Netanz nuclear power plant

Natanz, June 13 (askanews) – Columns of smoke and flames rise from the Natanz nuclear power plant hit by Israeli strikes during the night. The site located in the central Iranian province was bombed with a series of air strikes. In total, 100 targets were hit, including nuclear and military sites in Tehran, killing the chief of staff of the armed forces, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and important nuclear scientists.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said there was “no increase in radiation levels at the Natanz plant” in Iran, which was targeted by Israel. The nuclear watchdog also said the Bushehr nuclear power plant was not targeted.

The director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said the organization was closely monitoring the situation in Iran and was in contact with authorities regarding radiation levels.
