Rome, May 16 (Adnkronos) – “Communicating sustainability is fundamental: it is not enough to practice it, you also need someone who believes in it and chooses it. Otherwise it remains too theoretical, closed in companies or institutions, without generating real change.” These are the words of Eva Alessi, head of Sustainability Wwf Italia, who spoke at the Eiis Summit 2025, an annual event dedicated to sustainability, at Palazzo Orsini Taverna in Rome.
According to Alessi, consumers have a central role in the ecological transition and can no longer be treated as passive spectators. “They no longer need to be simply informed or educated, but involved as agents of change. They are an extraordinary lever to strengthen and guide truly sustainable choices.”
In his speech, Alessi also addressed the issue of environmental fake news, especially those about palm oil: “We environmentalists have been campaigning for years to make the supply chain responsible, so that it is sustainable. Consumers have taken a different path due to bad information, there is only one alternative to palm oil: sustainable palm oil. That is the solution.”
