President Proietti defends the maneuver to avoid the administration of health care in Umbria.

Umbria's health deficit: a critical situation

The health budget in Umbria is currently in a serious deficit situation, with a certified deficit of 243 million euro from the four regional health authorities. This data has raised significant concerns, so much so that it has pushed the centre-right minority to present a motion of no confidence in the president of the Council, Stefania Proietti.

During a recent speech in the Legislative Assembly, Proietti stressed that the management of healthcare is not the responsibility of a single individual, but of the entire majority that supports the regional government.

The choices needed to avoid receivership

The governor stressed that, without the adoption of corrective measures, the deficit could have led to the commissionership ad acta. Proietti explained that the only alternative to this maneuver would have been to cut services, a solution that would have had direct repercussions on the quality of healthcare offered to citizens. The president then took responsibility for the decisions made, stating that the maneuver was necessary to guarantee the sustainability of the regional healthcare system.

Details of the maneuver and impacts on citizens

Proietti provided specific details regarding the maneuver, highlighting that 34 million euro represent the declared deficit, while 12 million will be used to cover part of the endowment fund. He also mentioned that six millions of euros are the cuts imposed by the Government for the current year. The total of the measures includes a withdrawal of 52 million euro of additional Irpef that citizens will have to face in 2025, although the 73% of the population will not experience any increase. The president announced her abstention on the motion of no confidence, stressing the need for a collective approach to address the crisis.
