A significant meeting at the Ministry of Culture

On November 25, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Culture in Rome, entitled “The culture of respect”. This event represented an important opportunity for reflection and awareness on a theme of crucial social importance. The Undersecretary of Culture, Lucia Borgonzoni, underlined the educational role that culture must have in schools, highlighting how education in respect can contribute to preventing violence.

The 'Persephone' Award and its Recipients

During the meeting, the 'Persefone' award was given to individuals and institutions that have distinguished themselves in the fight against gender violence. Among the award winners, the presenter Eleonora Daniele and Antonio Preziosi, director of Tg2, spoke about the importance of information that does not limit itself to reporting the news, but that provides practical tools to address the problem. This approach is essential to create a culture of respect and to educate new generations to recognize and fight all forms of violence.

Education and shared responsibility

Martina Semenzato, president of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Femicide, highlighted the need for a co-responsibility path between family, school and civil society. Her reflection is particularly significant in a context in which data on gender violence continue to be alarming. The presence of experts in the field, such as Valerio De Gioia and Anna Maria Giannini, enriched the debate, offering ideas on how to develop an education in the culture of respect, which is essential to prevent violence.

Innovative projects and youth involvement

An interesting aspect of the meeting was the involvement of students from the Publio Vibio Mariano comprehensive institute in Rome, who participated in an artistic project against gender violence. The creation of a music video, in which the young people sang a rap song, represents an innovative way to address the issue and raise awareness among their peers. This type of initiative is essential to build a more aware and respectful society, where violence has no place.
