A night of violence shook Monreale, a town on the outskirts of Palermo, where three young people lost their lives in a shooting that left the community in a state of shock. An audio shared on TikTok revealed the testimony of a young man who, in tears, recounts the dramatic events that preceded the tragedy.
According to reconstructions, it all started with a trivial incident between two groups of young people, but the situation quickly degenerated into unexpected violence.
The spark that ignited the violence
The young narrator describes how a group of Palermo residents approached the scooter of Salvatore Turdo, one of the victims. A gesture that triggered a violent reaction. Salvatore Calvaruso, one of the alleged perpetrators of the triple homicide, allegedly risked running over Turdo, provoking an immediate reaction. “Salvo, who was hot-headed, told him to be careful, there are children too,” the young man says. This exchange of words started an argument that, from a simple squabble, turned into a violent brawl.
The fight and the tragic escalation
The testimony continues by describing how the young people from Monreale began to hit the Palermitans with their helmets, while the latter, clearly in difficulty, suffered serious injuries. “They had blood on their faces,” says the young man, highlighting the brutality of the situation. But the violence did not stop there: the Palermitans, after having suffered the attack, returned armed and opened fire. “In the end, the Palermitans returned and took the 'irons' and started shooting,” says the witness, underlining the speed with which the situation degenerated.
A personal and collective drama
The story becomes even more touching when the young man reveals that he witnessed the death of Salvo, who, wounded in the neck, asked him for help. "He died in my arms, he had a wound in his neck and I didn't know what to do," he confesses, letting the pain and frustration of not being able to save a friend shine through. This personal drama is intertwined with the collective drama of a community that finds itself dealing with unacceptable violence and the loss of young and promising lives.
