Milan, June 17 (Adnkronos) – The Ai Act is a very complex discipline. In this implementation phase, many points need to be clarified. The method of guidelines and slow development of the application makes sense because the discipline must regulate an extremely complex matter.

“The problem we have today is not the AI Act, but overregulation.”

This was stated by Edoardo Raffiotta, constitutionalist, professor of artificial intelligence law at the University of Milan Bicocca, on the sidelines of the round table organized by Meta in collaboration with Ispi “Ai governance between innovation and rules: a European challenge”, which was held in Milan. According to Raffiotta, the challenge that the European Union is facing concerns “correctly implementing the Ai Act, but above all acting on the European legal system, simplifying the many disciplines that today impact the digital phenomenon”.

The issue of compliance must be kept in mind: “They are certainly burdens, but at the same time they ensure certainty in the use of technology within the company, which must know how much technology there is and what it does to prevent it from being used to the detriment of employees or consumers”. “A reliable technology – the professor then reiterated – is a safe technology that has greater value on the market, but these rules must be clear, simplified and certain. Companies do not want a context without rules, but they want one with clear and certain rules”.

"Our country, from the point of view of digitalization, has several difficulties: we still have connectivity problems in some regions. We need to transmit this digital culture at all levels, but it is still lacking. In addition to the awareness plans that the Ai Act provides for the population, we should also think about specific projects to transfer the digital culture within companies. This is a crucial challenge for our country".
