Rome, May 15 (Adnkronos Salute) – "The country must be united to help cancer patients. Oncology in Italy is more organized than other specialties. The Government has moved on the operational level, has launched the direction of the National Oncology Plan, has launched the document for the coordination of regional networks. What we ask is that even small funding can be available immediately, but it can bring about big changes.
Networks are the priority and must work well. Today, during the long wait for diagnostic tests, patients spend 1.700 euros out of their own pocket, of which 700 for mobility and 400 for diagnostic tests. This means that patients do not wait on waiting lists, but with the doubt of an oncological disease they rush to do the tests. However, in this way only the rich will be able to get treatment. We say: let's make the networks and oncology centers work well to give a quick response to everyone". This is what Francesco De Lorenzo, president of Favo (Italian Federation of Volunteer Associations in Oncology), told Adnkronos Salute, on the sidelines of the presentation to the Chamber of the 17th Favo Report on the care conditions of cancer patients.
