An epochal change on the highways of the beautiful country given that the new tutor system has recently come into force, the tutor 3.0 which is already active on the main Italian arteries, in this article we see what it is and how it works.
Tutor: Why does it exist?
Il tutor on the highway has a very specific purpose, that is, evaluate the average speed of a vehicle in two predefined road sections.
In fact, when you see the active tutor sign you have to watch your speed.
Don't slow down drastically if you're in the overtaking lane, but at the same time don't pose a danger to other road users by going too slow. The right compromise is to respect the limits imposed by the motorway or the 130 km/h maximum speed.
Tutor 3.0: what it is and how it works
The Tutor 3.0 system is a development of the tutor system already present in Italy and in particular on motorways. As reported on the website I read. it - “The new version of the Tutor è equipped with high-resolution cameras and a radar system which guarantee greater precision in vehicle detection”.
Furthermore they were added more parameters which evaluates in order to make the highway a safer place – “Wrong-way traffic – Improper occupation of lanes – Unauthorized use of the emergency lane – Failure to use the right lane when it is free – Exceeding the weight and size limits of vehicles”.
The functions we have just mentioned are not yet in force and will have to pass a technical screening from a regulatory and procedural point of view.
