Vancouver, April 28 (askanews) – Vancouver is in mourning after the massacre during a traditional Filipino community celebration, when a car plowed into a crowd, killing 11 people. Dozens were injured.
The driver of the car, an SUV, was a 30-year-old with mental health problems, according to police reports, which therefore excludes the terrorist hypothesis for a tragedy that occurred on the last Sunday of the electoral campaign before the elections.
Mohamad Sariman was working at one of the many stalls selling street food when he heard the crash:
“I looked out the window and saw a body on the ground. And I thought, ‘Oh my God, what’s happening?’ And then I looked to the right, and I saw bodies everywhere.”
Condolences from the Philippines, whose President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he was “completely shocked”.
