The latest discrepancies to emerge over the identity of the man suspected of the double homicide at Villa Pamphili cast a further shadow over the figure until now known as Rexal Ford. The individual, currently detained on the Greek island of Skiathos, is in awaiting extradition procedures.
He was identified and arrested in Greece six days after the lifeless bodies of his wife and ten-month-old daughter were found. Genetic analysis is underway on the latter to confirm her biological connection with the couple.
The man is actually called Francis Kaufmann, not Rexal Ford as he had declared to the authorities. US citizenship, was in possession of an apparently authentic document but obtained using a fictitious identity. The FBI discovered the forgery, which informed the Rome prosecutor's office in the last few hours.
In addition to genetic testing, investigators are reconstructing the 46-year-old's movements analyzing phone, credit cards, testimonies and surveillance images. The investigations indicate that the man arrived in Italy in April, without his entry being officially recorded, and used multiple SIM cards and bank cards.
May 7th would have been presented as an independent director in a production house in Rome, using the identity of an American screenwriter and proposing a film set in Florence. “He spoke English, he was well-groomed”, those responsible told Repubblica.
The next day he contacted the production company asking for updates on the film, then he left for Greece from Fiumicino, without luggage and wearing the same clothes he had worn during a previous police check, while holding the little girl in his arms.
