Rome, 13 Nov. – (Adnkronos) – “The identikit of the Fivi producer is that of a small winery that manages about ten hectares of vineyards and produces an average of just under 40 thousand bottles per year. The activity of these companies expresses a primarily social and environmental aspect, as over 81% of the cultivated vineyards are located in mountain-hilly areas, compared to an average of 60% for Italian vineyards”. This was stated by Denis Pantini, head of Nomisma wine monitor, on the occasion of the presentation of the survey 'The socio-economic model of Independent Winemakers for the sustainability of the Italian wine supply chain' conducted by Nomisma wine monitor, Nomisma's observatory on the wine market, in collaboration with the Italian Federation of Independent Winemakers and dedicated to the producers associated with the federation.
“This means that Fivi producers are located in disadvantaged areas, in the so-called internal areas, which today suffer from increasing depopulation – continues Pantini – a very complicated situation because it means no longer having control of the territory and hydrogeological protection in an extremely fragile country, as the latest floods and climate change have demonstrated”.
“Wine is the first Italian product exported in the world. The producer Fivi expresses an export percentage that is slightly below average for a simple reason: it is more complicated for a small producer to reach international markets. This does not mean that there is not a good propensity for export. The survey, in fact, has highlighted how 7 Fivi producing companies out of 10 export and another 20% intend to do so in the coming years – concludes the head of Nomisma wine monitor – The markets reached are those of the Italian average: the United States, the European markets and the Asian market, despite the latter being an emerging market, where wine consumption is still in its infancy and where there are regulations of access constraints that are much more stringent than those of the European common market”.
