Rome, 30 April (Adnkronos) – “Giorgia Meloni claims today that with her government real wages are growing, in contrast to what happened in the past. It is a shame that she is contradicted by both Istat data, which yesterday found that real contractual wages in March 2025 are still 8% lower than those in January 2021, and by OECD data, which today show that the Italian tax wedge is among the highest, worse than us in only three countries in Europe".
Senator Francesco Boccia, president of the Democratic Party group in the Senate, says so.
"While the Prime Minister lies by pretending not to see the dramatic issue of wages and poor work in our country, the reality is that Italian families cannot cope with the increase in the cost of living, as President Mattarella underlined yesterday. After almost three years of government, propaganda can no longer cover up the truth of the facts. This is why we are still asking the government to immediately approve a law on the minimum wage and to immediately address the issue of wages".
"It is positive that the government - continues Boccia - wants to deal with safety in the workplace and that for this reason it has allocated additional funds. However, safety is also pursued through an adequate and fair wage policy. The dignity of work is guaranteed starting from wages and salaries that are in step with the cost of living. Below 9 euros it is just exploitation and this must be established by law".
