Rome, 27 April (Adnkronos) – "The Eurostat data published today – which show how in Italy between 2023 and 2024 the risk of poverty has increased among people who work even if they are full-time – paint an increasingly alarming picture of the wage issue in our country". This was stated by Antonio Misiani, Head of Economics in the national secretariat of the Democratic Party.
"The production system generates work but mainly in low-productivity and low-wage sectors. Stagnation, poor work and growing inequalities represent the dark side of an economic and social model that no longer holds up but that the right does not intend to question, as demonstrated by the ideological block of the Meloni government against the law on minimum wages. The right is engaged in an unacceptable rearguard battle to defend the interests of a part of the production system that survives by underpaying its employees. This is why it is urgent that the wage issue - from the minimum wage to the acceleration of contract renewals - returns to the center of the parliamentary agenda as soon as possible".
