US actress Rita Hayworth, originally Margarita Carmen Cansino (1918-87), daughter of Spanish dancer Eduardo Cansino, poses for the photographer in February 1948 prior to shooting the Lady From Shanghai directed and performed by Orson Welles. Born in New York, she appeared in short films, partnered both Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly in musicals of the 1940s, and had her best-known role in Gilda (1946). A scandal concerning her romance with playboy Prince Aly Khan (1949-51), whom she later married, ended her movie career.
