Due to volcanic ash from Mount Etna and unfavorable winds, Catania airport remains closed for the third consecutive day.

SAC, the company that manages the Sicilian airport, has communicated that arrivals and departures will therefore remain suspended until 11.59pm on Monday 28 September. In its update, the company explained that the emission of volcanic ash and unfavourable winds have determined the extension of the closure of the space corresponding to sector C1 and the closure of sector B3.

Catania Airport remains closed: passengers are advised to stay away.
