Amazon Opens Italy's Largest Distribution Center in Jesi

Jesi, October 22 (askanews) – An investment of over €180 million, 500 employees already hired on permanent contracts, and the goal of creating 1,000 jobs within three years. Amazon unveils its new Jesi fulfillment center, the largest robotics center in Italy and the second largest in Europe. This cutting-edge facility uses technological innovation to serve people, improving safety, quality, and accessibility to work. In Amazon's logistics network in Italy, women represent 35% of the workforce, a percentage far higher than the national average for the transportation and logistics sector. Giorgio Busnelli, Country Manager for Amazon in Italy, said: "For us, the Jesi fulfillment center is a very important one, which will employ 1,000 people on permanent contracts over the next three years.

This is part of our investment in the Marche region, where we have been present for several years with the Camerano sorting depot. We have invested over €180 million in the construction of this site and, more generally, have generated an economic impact of €900 million in the Marche region. The Jesi center is a facility destined to generate significant economic and employment development, with new opportunities for the local supply chain." Lorenzo Barbo, CEO of Amazon Italia Logistica, commented: "We are opening the doors of our Jesi warehouse, a high-tech robotic center designed to serve our end customers in the Marche region and beyond.

The new center will also serve our sellers and vendors, who will therefore have an easier access point to our network. The goal is to hire a thousand people on permanent contracts over the next three years. To date, we have reached the first milestone of having 500 people on permanent contracts." This facility is destined to generate significant economic and employment developments, with new opportunities for the local supply chain.

This investment has been welcomed with great satisfaction by the Jesi municipal administration, which views Amazon's arrival as an opportunity for growth, prosperity, and development for the entire region. Mayor Lorenzo Fiordelmondo commented: "We were absolutely ready for this broad process, both horizontally and vertically, with a wealth of expertise and professionalism. This is an important milestone in our present, yet it looks to the future and draws on a wealth of expertise and value from the past, marking a crucial intersection, both for the future of this area and for the entire region." Francesco Acquaroli, President of the Marche Region, said: "It certainly has a significant impact, bringing jobs, development, giving the region a central role, and restoring a vision, while also providing an opportunity for revitalization that we want to fully embrace. This is at a time when the manufacturing system is struggling with a series of international conditions, such as the impact of energy and other profoundly impacting variables, to which we hope Europe will soon be able to provide a natural and structural response." The Amazon distribution center in Jesi looks to the future, where technology, work, and economic development converge with the goal of further strengthening the social fabric of an entire community.
