Rome, June 23 (askanews) – For two days, the heart of Rome spoke the language of Azerbaijani culture. On June 18 and 19, music and cinema bridged Azerbaijan and Italy as part of the Azerbaijani Culture Days. The initiatives, which attracted a large audience of more than 1100 participants, opened on June 18 at the Casa del Jazz with the concert "The Sound of the Caspian: Azerbaijani Jazz."
The event was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli, on an official visit to Italy. His participation lent particular institutional importance to the program, confirming the excellent state of cultural relations between the two countries, further evidenced by the presence of representatives of the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Director General of ICCRO. The evening paid tribute to one of Azerbaijan's most original artistic expressions: national jazz, born from the encounter between the sounds of mugham, the country's ancient musical tradition, and the improvisation of Western jazz.
Some of the most prestigious performers on the Azerbaijani and international music scene took turns on stage, leading the audience on a sonic journey between tradition and modernity. A musical dialogue that intertwined the melodies of Italian memory with the voices and inspirations of Azerbaijan. The celebrations continued on June 19th at the Casa del Cinema with the screening of the film "Taghiyev: Petrolio," dedicated to Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, one of the most important industrialists, patrons, and philanthropists in Azerbaijan's history.
The screening offered Italian audiences the opportunity to learn more about a figure who made a decisive contribution to the country's economic, social, and cultural development between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Official greetings on both occasions were delivered by the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Italy, Rashad Aslanov, who emphasized the importance of events such as these in fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and friendship between peoples. The Days of Azerbaijani Culture, organized by the Cultural Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Italy, have built a bridge between East and West, which was warmly welcomed by the Roman public.
