(Adnkronos) – Tensions are rising in Marseille during the demonstration by high school students. At the Victor-Hugo high school in the third arrondissement, the principal, his assistant, and other administrators were attacked and doused with gasoline, according to Bfmtv. An attempted arson attack also occurred inside the school, with the front door being set alight.

The protest also had serious consequences on public transport.

RTM completely suspended service starting at 11:00 a.m., stopping metro, trams, and buses. The decision came after several employees, including a driver, were attacked, and a bus was reportedly set on fire. Meanwhile, the CFDT union called on drivers to return to their depots for safety reasons.

Strong tensions have also been recorded in the Nice and Antibes area, where the prefecture reports having arrested 50 people.

A fire was also reported inside the Nelson Mandela high school in Nantes, where the prefecture reported "acts of violence in the areas surrounding the high schools" and the presence of "violent individuals" who "joined up with high school students to commit vandalism," concluding that 18 people in the entire department were arrested.

Another 37 people were arrested this morning in the Pas-du-Calais department, where a headmaster in Auchel was injured when a firecracker hit him in the ear.

The protests completely disrupted public transport in Grenoble.

The Marseille prosecutor's office reported that between 15 and 20 people, "mostly minors," are currently in custody in connection with the protests. French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu will chair an inter-ministerial crisis meeting on the student protests at 13 p.m. today at the Ministry of the Interior, while clashes and fires are reported in various parts of the city during the new day of protests, dubbed "act two" by Ryad Rani, president of the Union Syndicale Lycéenne, during a joint press conference in Paris with the Student Union.
