Europe has fallen far behind on critical raw materials; now we need to catch up, and Italy is moving ahead of the rest. In Europe, we are creating a critical raw materials center, an operational structure designed to reduce the dependencies our companies are subject to due to decisions or crises in third countries.
Here, Italy can get ahead of the curve. Minister Urso has nominated Italy to be the first strategic hub for critical raw materials in Italy and has nominated Porto Marghera as a hub connecting ports, logistics, industry, and mineral resources.
Mariateresa Vivaldini, MEP for the Brothers of Italy party and shadow rapporteur for the European Parliament's Industry Committee, said this in an interview at the European Parliament in Strasbourg regarding the negotiations to provide the legal basis and appropriate provisions for the establishment of the Centre for Critical Raw Materials.
