La evening Monday's flight turned into a nightmare for passengers bound for Denmark and Norway. The airport Kastrup, Scandinavia's busiest, stopped all operations around 8.30pm after the sighting of three or four large drones flying over the area. In just a few hours, around fifty takeoffs were canceled and over seventy planes were diverted to alternative airports, including Malmö and Gothenburg, Sweden. The incident created long waits and tension among stranded travelers, while authorities initiated widespread checks with the support of the armed forces.

Shortly after the closure of the Danish airport, also Oslo Airport suspended operations around midnight due to the presence of at least two drones near the runway. The action, which lasted approximately three hours, affected twelve flights, both arrivals and departures. Norwegian authorities described it as a necessary measure to ensure safety, emphasizing that the airspace was reopened only after verifying that the emergency had passed.

Copenhagen and Norwegian police are now working together to establish whether there is a direct connection between the two episodes.

The episode also took on political significance. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, commenting on the story on social media, has reported new violations of the airspace by the Russia against NATO member countries. Zelensky warned that without a firm response from its allies, Moscow will continue to carry out such provocations. Danish police, however, have not confirmed a direct link to Russia, emphasizing that the investigation is still ongoing.
