Susanna Riva During the night between Thursday, September 24th and Friday, September 25th, a report was received on the emergency number 112: a mother feared her son had attacked someone. The intervention of the Flying Squad shifted their attention from an apartment in Mirafiori to Via Gulli, in the Borgo Vittoria neighborhood of Turin, where a grisly discovery was made.
The discovery in Via Gulli
Alerted by a strong, acrid odor, officers entered the fourth-floor apartment of a 47-year-old professor from Rieti. Upon entering, they discovered several black bags containing human remains in the bathroom. The body of Fabio Colapietro, 39, was found to have been cut into several parts: the head was placed in a container, while the limbs and torso were encased in quick-setting concrete blocks.
Knives, probably used for the lacerations, were found next to the remains.
The condition of the body and the objects found
Forensic investigations confirmed that the body had been deliberately dismembered , intended to hinder identification. The black bags, some still sealed, contained fragments of tissue and bone, while other concrete containers bore handprints that appeared to belong to multiple individuals.
The knives found, all of different sizes, were seized as evidence.
The investigations and the arrests
Coordinated by prosecutor Lea Lamonaca, the mobile squad immediately launched a series of searches near Mirafiori, where the 26-year-old son who made the call to 112 lived. The young man, of Italian-Brazilian origin, stated that he had participated in a robbery gone wrong and had killed Fabio Colapietro in the apartment on Via Gulli. At the same time, two other individuals were arrested: Nicole Formichetti, the owner of the apartment, and a 22-year-old woman, both charged with aiding and abetting the murder.
Testimonies from neighbors
Some residents reported noticing a constant coming and going of people around Formichetti's apartment. A neighbor described the woman as having "lost weight quickly" and noted the frequent presence of a tall, thin man in his thirties and a young "foreigner, transgender" who accompanied her. According to the same witnesses, the residents' chaotic behavior and the frequent visits from strangers fueled tensions in the building.
Meanwhile, Turin magistrates have requested the Preliminary Investigations Judge to confirm the arrests and apply precautionary measures against the three suspects. The prosecutor's office has yet to determine whether the murder occurred in the apartment or whether the body was transported later. The investigation continues, with further interviews being conducted with individuals who had contact with the victim or the defendants.
