(Adnkronos) – "I'm not making any statements, also out of respect for the judicial authorities. I hope the time has come to get justice for Chiara, for me." These are the words of Alberto Stasi, speaking to Mattino5, which this morning on Canale 5 broadcast the brief statement of the only person definitively convicted for the Garlasco crime, in which Chiara Poggi, his then-girlfriend, lost her life.

In recent days, there has been renewed talk of a possible retrial of Stasi's case, in light of Andrea Sempio's being placed under investigation in the new investigation into the murder.

Giada Bocellari, who has been assisting Stasi for years, also spoke in the studio: “Alberto, as you know, doesn't like to talk much, and this has been a source of antipathy in the past.

But I think I represent his thoughts well: on the one hand, he looks to his future with confidence, but also with fear, because these have been years of great suffering. There is hope, but we know there will be trials, which are the only things that matter beyond the media hype."

Bocellari then added that “the focus of the review is Alberto Stasi, not Andrea Sempio.

The latter is not mentioned in our request for a review, because he has the right to be tried if necessary; he cannot be brought to a place where he would not even be guaranteed cross-examination. I want to clarify this because, from a technical standpoint, it is a crucial piece of information. What the Pavia investigations can say regarding the review concerns potential evidence in Alberto Stasi's defense, regardless of whether or not it is incriminating to the new suspect.
